Stored/Impounded Vehicles

All “Stored” and “Impounded” Vehicles will be released through our Records Department, Monday through Saturday (7:00am-5:00pm) (Closed Sundays.) Payments must be made before 4:30 pm.

In order for vehicles to be released, the registered (or legal) owner must provide the following:
  • Proof of Ownership
  • Proof of Valid Drivers License or must be accompanied by a licensed driver.
  • Pay a $150.00 Administrative Fee
  • Pay a $400.00 Fee (if arrested for DUI)
The release must be presented to the impound yard and the appropriate towing and storage fees must be paid to the tow company before you will receive your vehicle

30 Day Impounds

Pursuant to California Vehicle Code 14602.6(a), the vehicle driven could be impounded because you are an unlicensed driver or you have a suspended or revoked driver’s license. Your vehicle could be held at the tow company for a period of not less than 30 days.

At the conclusion of 30 days, you may obtain a release for the vehicle at:
Azusa Police Department
725 N. Alameda Ave.
Azusa, Ca. 91702
(626) 812-3200

Impound Hearings

The registered and legal owners may request a post-impound hearing (within 10 days of the impounded vehicle) to determine the validity of the impounded vehicle. To arrange a hearing, contact the Records Department at (626) 812-3233 or complete a “Request for a Vehicle Hearing” form.

Failure to promptly claim your vehicle upon expiration of the 30-day impound may subject your vehicle to lien sale by the tow company.
