Raccoons

Encounters
One of the most common species of wildlife found in Southern California are raccoons, which have adjusted very well to human settings. You will most likely encounter raccoons, which are nocturnal, when they are rummaging through cat food and garbage left outside.

Never attempt to pick up or touch a raccoon. They have powerful jaws and can render a serious bite.

If you see a sick raccoon, contact the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care & Control at (626) 962-3577.
