The Building and Safety Section is a part of the Economic and Community Development Department.

The Building Section:
  • Regulates construction and occupancy of all residential, commercial, and industrial buildings in order to ensure structural, life, fire, and health safety
  • Checks all proposed construction projects, including additions and alterations to existing buildings
  • Inspects all new construction, additions, structural alterations, and demolitions
  • Provides the general public with basic construction information and calculation of fees
  • Issues building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and demolition permits
