Anyone interested in becoming an Azusa Police Department Explorer should be a resident of Azusa between 15 and 18 years of age and comply with the following requirements:
- Have at least a "C" (2.0) grade point average on the last two report cards
- Have no physical handicaps that could cause injury to himself / herself or jeopardize other participants in the program
- Not have had any serious contacts with the police - no arrests or conviction
- Pass an oral interview with a score of 70 percent or better
- Pass a background investigation
- Successfully complete the 14 week Explorer Academy prior to obtaining permanent Explorer status
- Attend weekly Explorer meetings and/or details
