Curbside Christmas Tree Recycling
Overview
Each year Athens Services collects residential Christmas trees placed at curbside or near trash bin enclosures from December 26 through January 13.

This program replaces the former Christmas tree drop off program in City Parks. Leaving Christmas trees at any City Park is illegal and can lead to criminal prosecution.

Collection & Regulations
Christmas trees are usually picked up on trash collection day and delivered to the Puente Hills landfill, where they are ground up and used as mulch or a cover material at the landfill.

All plastic containers, metal stands, ornaments, and the bulk of tinsel must be removed. Flocked trees or trees coated with a fire retardant will be accepted.
