1. Which agency responds to stray animals around the City?

The City of Azusa contracts with the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care & Control. The LA County Department of Animal Care & Control provides many animal control services and sheltering for strays. Contact them at (626) 962-3577. Their shelter is located at 4275 N. Elton Street in Baldwin Park.

2. Do you provide fingerprinting for the public?

We currently do not provide fingerprinting to the public. A list of fingerprinting service locations can be obtained in the Records Division.

3. What radio frequency are you on?

155.940 mhz

4. When can construction begin in the morning?

Construction may begin at 7:00 am within the City limits.

5. How old does my child have to be before I could take him out of the car seat?

The child must be either 6 years old OR 60 pounds. The parent may be cited if the child does not meet these requirements and is out of a child car seat.

6. What is the requirement for children wearing helmets while riding bicycles?

The law requires that all children under the age of 14 are required to wear a helmet. The child and the parent are cited if he/she is not wearing a helmet while riding his/her bike.

7. How old does my child have to be before he may become a Police Explorer?

Azusa Police Department requires that the child be at least 14 years of
age and maintain a “C” (2.0) grade point average to become a Police
Explorer.

8. How do I obtain a copy of a police report?

Laws specifically govern which type of reports can be released to the public. Contact the Records Unit during our business hours or call (626) 812-3233 with your specific request.

9. Can I have my mechanical (fix it) traffic citation signed off?

Bring your citation to the Police Department during business hours and request an officer to inspect your vehicle. You must bring your repaired / corrected vehicle and your citation to the station, and pay the appropriate fee. It will be your responsibility to return the proof of correction to the appropriate court along with any fees required to have the citation dismissed.

10. If I find graffiti near my home who should I call to have it removed?

You may call the City’s Public Works department at (626) 812-5253 for graffiti removal or email the details to graffitiremoval@ci.azusa.ca.us. If you have knowledge of who may have been the person or persons who did the graffiti, contact the Police Department to file a report.

11. Do I register by home or business burglar alarm?

Contact the Police Department at (626) 812-3255 and leave your name
and address and an application will be sent to you along with some
basic information as to why you register your alarm.

12. We are having a Neighborhood Watch meeting, can a police officer be available to join us?

You must call ahead of time to arrange with the watch commander to assure if there will be an officer available the day you are having the meeting. The best day to have the meetings are on a Wednesday, but once again, you must call and make arrangements with the Watch Commander.

14. How do I report suspected narcotics activity?

Non-emergency police calls should be made to (626) 812-3200. You may also contact the Special Enforcement Team by calling the tip line at (626) 812-3272. If desired, callers may remain anonymous.

15. How do I obtain a dog or cat license?

Mandatory dog licenses and voluntary cat licenses may be obtained by contacting the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society at (626) 286-1159.
Most licensing transactions can be conducted by mail.
