AB 939 Fee

$0.75 per month for residents using barrels
$0.67 per month for residents using bins

In 1989, the State of California adopted Assembly Bill 939, which required cities and counties throughout the state to develop recycling plans, implement those plans, and formulate complicated annual reports of efforts to meet certain recycling goals.

The AB fee was imposed to pay for administration of these programs and to maintain compliance with state law. The fee is proportionate to the amount of waste disposed by different trash customers, including single-family residential, multifamily residential, commercial, and those using industrial roll off containers.
